Ultrasonic cleaning machines

Industrial ultrasonic cleaners for South Africa

IronWash Sonic ultrasonic cleaning machines immerse parts in a heated bath and let ultrasound lift grease, oil, carbon and dirt from ducts, cavities and threads. Three models with 160 L or 310 L tanks and a pneumatic platform of up to 220 kg.

How an industrial ultrasonic cleaner works

A Rotor sprays heated water at the parts as the basket turns. A Sonic machine immerses the parts in a heated bath of water and detergent, and ultrasound does the work: tiny bubbles form and collapse against every wetted surface (cavitation), a micro-scrub that lifts grease, oil, carbon and dirt from ducts, cavities and corners a brush, air gun or spray cannot reach.

Industrial, not benchtop

Small ultrasonic baths are made for jewellery, laboratories and dental instruments. The Sonic range is built for workshop and production parts: 1.5 kW (160 L) or 3 kW (310 L) of ultrasound at 28 or 40 kHz with sweep and digital frequency control, 4.5–6 kW heating, and a pneumatic immersion platform that lowers, agitates and lifts loads of 70 to 220 kg. A recirculating filter with washable 5-micron cartridges and oil decanting keep the bath working for longer.

Sonic ultrasonic cleaning machines: models and specifications

Ultrasonic cleaning in a heated tank, with a pneumatic platform that lowers the parts in, agitates them and lifts them out. Recirculating filtration and oil decanting keep the bath working for longer.

What the Sonic machines are used for

A Rotor sprays heated water at the parts as the basket turns. A Sonic machine immerses the parts in a heated bath of water and detergent, and ultrasound does the work: tiny bubbles form and collapse against every wetted surface (cavitation), a micro-scrub that lifts grease, oil, carbon and dirt from ducts, cavities and corners a brush, air gun or spray cannot reach.

What it cleans

  • Engine components, carburettors and injectors
  • Parts with ducts, cavities, blind holes and complex shapes
  • Metal parts with oil, grease, machining residue, fine swarf or carbon
  • Moulds and machined components
  • Aluminium, steel, stainless steel and brass, with the detergent matched to the material

Who uses it

  • Automotive, engine and fuel-system workshops
  • Maintenance workshops that want faster, consistent results than hand brushing
  • Manufacturers cleaning parts before assembly, inspection or coating
  • Machine shops and mould makers removing machining residue
  • Precision and electronics work where every surface must be clean

How it differs from the Rotor

  • Parts are immersed, so every wetted surface is cleaned, inside and out
  • Reaches into holes, ducts and crevices that a spray jet cannot
  • The pneumatic platform lowers the parts in, agitates them and lifts them out
  • Repeatable cycles: the same recipe gives the same result every time
  • Use it alongside a Rotor: heavy degreasing in the Rotor, detail cleaning in the Sonic

Ultrasonic cleaner FAQ

How do I get a price?

Request a quote with the form or email us. Tell us what you clean, the size and weight of your largest part and where the machine is going, and we will send an itemised quote for the machine, with delivery to your site quoted separately.

Which machine type do I need: rotary parts washer or ultrasonic cleaner?

Rotor: automatic rotating-basket spray washing for small to medium-sized metal parts, tools and components in batches. Sonic: ultrasonic cleaning in a heated bath for parts with ducts, cavities, threads and complex shapes. Many workshops use both: the Rotor for the heavy degreasing, the Sonic for the detail work.

How big and heavy can the parts be?

Rotor baskets range from Ø740 × 450 mm and 150 kg (Rotor 800) to Ø1140 × 600 mm and 400 kg (Rotor 1200). Sonic platforms take 70 kg (Sonic 160X), 100 kg (Sonic 160) or 220 kg (Sonic 310), with a useful basket of up to 930 × 560 × 390 mm. Rotor 1400 specifications are on request.

Do the machines use solvent?

No. The Rotor uses water-based detergents in low concentrations, heated by the machine (thermostat 0–60 °C). The Sonic uses a heated bath of water and detergent (Sonic 160X thermostat 0–80 °C), with the detergent matched to the material being cleaned.

What power do the machines need?

Rotor machines need a 400 V three-phase supply with neutral and earth (other voltages on request), and 6–8 bar compressed air. The Sonic 160X needs 400 V three-phase; supply details for the Sonic 160 and 310 are confirmed on your quote.
